polemix.co publishes information about gambling products and markets. It is not a gambling operator, does not accept wagers, and holds no gambling licence in Canada or elsewhere. Nothing on this site is a licence, an approval, or a statement that any operator may legally serve you.
Scope
This page explains, in general terms, what a gambling licence is, who issues one in Canada, and how a reader can check a licence before playing. It does not list licensed operators and does not confirm the status of any operator.
What a Licence Means
- Licence
- Permission from a regulator for a business to offer gambling in a defined market, under stated conditions.
- Regulator
- A public body that issues, renews, suspends, and revokes those permissions and publishes a register of holders.
- Ontario
- The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is the regulator. iGaming Ontario conducts and manages internet gaming in the province and contracts with operators. An operator serving Ontario players appears on the AGCO register and has an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario.
- Other provinces
- Each province sets its own rules, its own regulator, and its own register. A licence in one province does not carry into another.
Age Limits
Minimum age to gamble is 19 in most provinces. It is 18 in Alberta, Manitoba, and Quebec. An operator’s own terms may set a higher age for some products. Age is checked at account registration and again at withdrawal.
Checking a Licence
- Identify the legal business name of the operator, not the brand name shown in advertising.
- Open the regulator’s public register for the province you are in.
- Search that legal name. Confirm the licence is current and covers the products you intend to use.
- Confirm the domain you are on matches the domain listed for that licence.
- If the name or domain is absent, treat the site as unlicensed for your province.
Regulator registers: agco.ca for Ontario, and igamingontario.ca for iGaming Ontario’s role in the Ontario market.
What This Site Does Not Claim
No page on polemix.co states that an operator is licensed unless that page says so directly and cites the register entry. A link to an operator is not a licence claim. Some links may earn a commission; see the affiliate disclosure.
Sources Used
Regulatory details on this site come from AGCO and iGaming Ontario notices. Game figures such as RTP, volatility, and jackpot triggers come from a game’s own paytable or the studio’s information sheet. Where a figure is not published by the game or studio, this site does not supply one.
